CBS to Develop Sitcom Based on Twitter Account
Justin Halpern has a social media success story. The twenty-nine year old owner of the Twitter account @shitmydadsays just scored himself a deal with CBS to develop a sitcom based on his Twitter account. Justin’s Twitter, which he just started this year, already has close to 800,000 followers. Apparently, there is market for the stuff that Justin’s dad says. Justin tweets about the random stuff that his 73-year-old father Sam tells him. And the things his dad says are pretty funny. Take the following tweets for example:
“Son, no one gives a shit about all the things your cell phone does. You didn’t invent it, you just bought it. Anybody can do that.”
“The baby will talk when he talks, relax. It ain’t like he knows the cure for cancer and he just ain’t spitting it out.”
“Just pay the parking ticket. Don’t be so outraged. You’re not a freedom fighter in the civil rights movement. You double parked.”

Halpern is set to develop the sitcom together with the creators of Will & Grace- David Kohan and Max Mutchnick. The show will also be co-written and co-produced by Patrick Schumacker. Aside from the TV show, Halpern has also scored a book deal for his Twitter account.
